Dark Lover is the first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, it’s also the first book I have read from author J.R. Ward. I know what you all are probably thinking..What the hell is wrong with her!? I know….I know!
Starting this book I was instantly intrigued by this world of vampires and lessers. J.R. Ward brings a new take on such an overpopulated genre. EEEK! I think I’ve found my new book series obsession!
My favorite part of this novel was how unpredictable it was! Vampires can’t survive on human blood they survive on the blood of their own kind. Usually with this genre, the vampire falls in love with the human and is ‘so afraid’ they will lose control and drain their loved ones dry. Nope, you don’t have to worry about that in this book. This book takes all the normal vampire clichés and squashes them down to dust.
Its going to be tough to top this book. Wrath is the epitome of what I imagine a Vampire warrior to be. He’s a ruthless SOB! I couldn’t get enough of him! What makes his character all the more interesting though, is the fact that he is nearly blind!!!! That little fact however, doesn’t stop him from protecting the ones he loves.
I haven’t been this excited to continue on with a series in a long time. I’m getting ready to dive into Lover Eternal! Bring On RHAGE!!!!
