Synopsis:

Football is the sole focus of my life—until a squawking baby girl, with a temper to rival my own, lands in my lap and flips my life upside down. I’ll never be Dad of the Year. Anyone will tell you that—except maybe Sienna, my sister’s beautiful former roommate, who somehow manages to make my broody ass laugh and sees something in me no one else does.

When Sienna offers to let me and my little princess move in with her, I’m not sure if it’s to help or because she wants revenge on my teammate and long-time rival, who broke her heart. Either way, I’m game, because I need to get my ex off my back, and Sienna doesn’t mind pretending to be my girlfriend.

Only neither of us is ready for the sexual tension that builds and the sparks that fly between us… or the consequences when they do.

Tight Ends and Tiaras is the second book in Lex Martin’s Varsity Dads Series. If you are new to this series, have no fear! This novel can be read as a standalone. I’ve read every book, but some books I read out of order, so I can stand by this statement. This novel is told from both Sienna and Ben’s sweet romance.

Ben lived his life for football and hopefully one day making it into the NFL. But, one night, one phone call, and one knock on his ex-girlfriend’s hotel door changed his mindsight in the blink of an eye. Especially when he finds his ex has been keeping a huge secret from him. A secret that he will never be able to forgive. He has a daughter.

Sienna’s goal in life is to make it on her own, without her parents/family’s connections. She has big dreams in mind and she’s set to see them through. Her ex be damned! However, a tight end and a baby girl may have her wanting to change her life plans, the more time she continues to spend with them. Who said a fake relationship has to end on a bad note…?

My Thoughts:

I felt this story down to my very soul! This grumpy/sunshine romance had me feeling ALL THE FEELS! It was an up all night type of reading moment for me. Lex Martin is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. You never know what you’re going to get with her stories and that’s what keeps me coming back for more.

Let’s start with the storyline. For starters, I don’t really vibe well with the fake relationship trope. I’m starting to learn I love this trope when certain authors add it into their stories. And one of those authors happens to be Lex Martin. This is the second fake relationship novel I’ve read by her, and I’m blown away! My heart was in this story for the long haul!!!

Now let’s get to these characters, Ben and Sienna! These two are definitely going to be a hard couple to top in future novels. I loved how these two characters balanced one another out in an odd way.

Sienna, grew up on a different side of the spectrum, where she wanted for nothing and had every opportunity at her feet. But there was something within her that had her wanting to move out on her own and see what she could make of herself. I loved her determination! I loved her ambition to be the best person that she could be. And I really disliked her father. Now, having read the whole novel, I understand his intentions. But this man was a real asshat throughout this novel… And on the same side of the spectrum, Ben’s aunt literally had me wanting to throw my kindle into a wall. This woman had me so angry. No apology mattered by the end. Her character was already done with in my mind….

One of my favorite tropes is secret baby romances. I love the angst and vulnerability that tends to follow this trope. Lex Martin continues to surprise me, taking this trope numerous times and adding her own little spin to it! I can’t get enough. I thought this series would seem a bit redundant, but there is nothing repetitive about these novels in this series. Everything feels different! She’s definitely rocking it!

Now that I’m officially caught up on this series, I can say with an honest heart, I’m a fan for life!!
