Synopsis:

Ryder

Two years of silence and no goodbye—she slipped away and through my fingers, leaving me with nothing but questions… and a heavy heart from missing her.

I know what we had was real, that our love was once in a lifetime.

Now she’s back from her Parisian fashion internship, and I’m ready for answers, desperate to understand why she couldn’t just stay.

Jordyn

When I walked away, it was to protect him. Yet, all he knows, all he cares about, is that I left. Coming home is a bittersweet journey, each step heavier than the last.

While I’m no longer half a world away, the obstacles in front of us make it feel like we’ve never been farther apart.

I want to give him the answers he so desperately craves, and this time, I’ll get to say goodbye. However, what I didn’t plan on was Ryder’s fight. He’s not going to let me go so easily this time.

Stay Present is the Sixth book in Kaylee Ryan’s Kincaid Brothers Series. This is Ryder Kincaid’s and Jordyn’s second chance romance.

Ryder Kincaid has only ever known one love in his life, and that love walked away without a word two years ago. The man hasn’t been the same since that moment. Now, a blast from his past has resurfaced, and when he learns the truth of why Jordyn left him without a word, he’s going to do everything in his power to not only keep her safe, but to show her he can fight the epic battle that is about to hit him full force.

My Thoughts:

Having read all of the books in the Kincaid Brothers’ Series, there was always a brother that stuck out more than most. That brother is Ryder Kincaid. I don’t know what it was, maybe the heartbreak that flowed off from him everytime he stepped onto the scene. Or maybe it was the refusal of moving on. He was stubborn, that’s for sure. But I’ve come to learn when the Kincaid men love, they love so damn hard.

Jordyn’s backstory came as a surprise to me. I thought this novel was going to go in a whole different direction. In all honesty, I was a little let down with the direction Kaylee Ryan took Jordyn’s backstory. I felt like the sordid uncaring mother and father aspect already told in Ramsey’s story (Stay Always). I liked Jordyn’s character but there was something missing with her. I had a hard time connecting with her. Not to mention, she’s damn near twenty-five years old…. If you want to leave your parents house, then LEAVE! If you don’t like the way you’re being treated…. then LEAVE. If you want to be with and marry the love of your life and live the perfect small town life… then LEAVE! I have no doubt in my mind that eight brawny brothers and their dad can protect you… UGH, this aspect in the story line did not work for me and that is why I decided to give this novel a 3 star rating. The parental aspect felt very immature for Jordyn’s age. I had to remind myself of her age several times throughout this novel.

As for the romance aspect, I really loved Ryder and Jordyn together. I loved the chemistry that they shared, and I loved how the Kincaid Family welcomed her into their lives with no hesitation. My heart swooned hard! I just wish Kaylee Ryan went a different direction with this one.

Now, it’s time for the twin’s stories! I have to be honest, I may be even more intrigued by their story that I was with Ryder’s! I need more heat, passion, and love. I have a feeling the twin’s story are going to set kindles on fire everywhere. I’m ready!!

  1. I’ve been waiting for this review! I hate to admit that I DNF’d this book. I just couldn’t get interested in Jordyn’s backstory. It was too crazy for this series. I wish it had been something a little less nutty because Jordyn and Ryder deserved a better storyline. It was nice to see that her backstory also wasn’t your favorite. Made me feel better about giving up on something I wasn’t loving.
