My Thoughts:
WOW! I’m going to be really honest here. After reading the last four books in the series, and not vibing well with them, I was considering setting this series to the side and basically giving up on it. I see now, how bad that would have truly been! I can’t believe I almost missed out on what is probably going to be my favorite book in the series! I loved Raiden and Isabella’s story!
Let’s start with Isabella. I loved this woman’s need for independence and her determination to live the life that she wants. I also loved the suspense that revolves around her story. The escape, the running away, and the finding something more out of life vibes had me sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation! I truly wanted Isabella to find her doting husband, white fence and house full of kids happily ever after and I’m thrilled she found that and so much more with Raiden.
Now let’s get to the hot-throb of the story, Raiden! On first sight, Raiden comes off as this caring and soft hearted man, which he is. But as soon as Isabella stepped into the picture, for the second time, he was consumed by his inner alpha! I loved the touch her and die vibes he was bringing to this novel. I actually felt his wrath when it came to any harm or any unwanted advances that turned in Isabella’s direction. This is a man who will fiercely protect those that he holds nearest to his heart. And it showed in this novel! I loved everything about this man!!
The one reason behind why I dropped a star on my rating is due to the fact that I didn’t know Raiden had a daughter that was Isabella’s age until the last few chapters. I would have loved to see a few moments between Raiden and his daughter. I didn’t know how much I wanted those moments until now as I’m sitting here writing this review.
Overall, I really enjoyed Raiden and Isabella’s story. I loved the Mafia vibes and the MC vibes. I loved the age gap trope and the forbidden aspect that came to this novel. I loved the freedom that came with Isabella’s character once she met Raiden. OMG! There are so many pieces and moments I loved when it comes down to this novel. It is definitely my favorite novel in this series! Hopefully the next book I read in this series is just as good!!
