We are now four years into a brand new year, and I think I finally have my goals and challenges for 2024 ready! It’s taken me a lot of time to pick and choose which reading challenges are going to be the most helpful when it comes to achieving the yearly books to read goal. I’ve also jotted down a few blogging, reading, and lifestyle goals that I’ll add towards the end of this post.
I have six Challenges I plan to take part in this year. Around this time last year I was already feeling overwhelmed with all the random challenges I had in mind. This year, I decided to take it simple and partake in challenges that will ultimately help me reach my 100 books of 2024 challenge (otherwise known as the Goodreads reading challenge). Last year I wanted to partake in Romanceopoly and reading 3 authors entire published log… Unfortunately, those challenges felt really heavy around March of 2023 so I dumped them. and in doing so, I decided not to add them this year…. with all that being said, let’s get to the challenges I’m doing!
2024 Challenges
Serious About Series Challenge
Susan @ Susan Loves Books brought this challenge to my attention with her challenge blog post! I had a challenge like this on my list last year, but honestly, I forgot all about it… UGH! So far, I chose three of the five series to complete or catch up on. I cannot control my excitement when it comes to these three series! As for the other two series on this challenge, only time will tell which I chose!
I’ll be catching up on the Thoughtless Series by S.C. Stephens. I need to read Thoughtful, Painful, and Wonderful. All stories are told from Kellan Kyle’s point of view, and I’m so freaking excited to start these books!
I’ll also be reading The Knights and Dragons MC Series by Chantal Fernando! I’m ready for Fernando’s Motorcycle Club vibes! Bring on the swoony bad boys!!
A series I plan to finish is the Raleigh Rebels Series by Callie Hart. I remember the first book in the series consumed my every thought and action at the time of reading. Its been a few years since I list jumped into this world, so I plan to do a reread and I’m so excited! I can’t wait to see if my thoughts still ring true when it comes to the first book in the series. We shall see!!
Goodreads Reading Challenge:
My goal for this challenge is to read 100 books in 2024. Last year I was close to accomplishing this challenge, but I was shy four books… I think. Fingers crossed I’ll end this year with 100 or more books read!
My Bookshelf Challenge:
Last year I had planned to read half the books on my physical bookshelf that were left unread, I managed to read 15 books. This year, I want to beat that number by 5! My new mission is to read 20 books on my physical shelf!! I think this is the challenge I’m most nervous about! With a kindle unlimited subscription and a brand new e-reader, I may be in trouble.
New To Me Author Challenge:
Last year, my goal was to read 3-5 new to me authors each month. This year I’m playing this challenge safer than last year. I want to read 15 new authors by the end of 2024. So, if you have a favorite author, share them in the comments!
Beat The Backlist Challenge:
Another Challenge I found via Susan @ Susan Loves Books!! The object of this challenge is to read books published a year or more before the day you read them. I have a ton of paperbacks and kindle books published before 2023 on my reading lists, With that being said, this challenge should be easy for me. So, the total books I plan to read in this challenge is 50… I’m so nervous!! (LOL)
Is KindleUnlimited Worth It Challenge:
This is a new challenge I decided to set for myself. Last year I tried this challenge to see if it was really worth it. The object for each month in 2024 is to pass the monthly subscription total with the ku books you read. If you’re in the green by the end of the month, you can mark it as successful for that month. By the end of 2024 my total has to be more than the yearly kindleunlimited subscription total. Looking back, I found a couple of months were marked red. So last year was not a successful was it worth it year. Hopefully this year will be better!
2024 Goals
I’m not a fan of resolutions, I feel like I always set a new year resolution and by the third week in the year, that resolution is already forgotten. What I am a fan of, is setting goals for myself. So for this year I have a few reading goals, a few blogging goals, and some life goals I set.
Reading Goals:
1.ย Last year I set a goal for myself, if I’m not feeling a book by the fifty percent point, I’ll let it go.. or DNF it.. Looking back, I found I DNF’d five books and that is a big deal for me. So, in 2024 I plan to follow this new goal of mine. I’m going to close the books I’m not feeling, and let them go.
2. Another situation that occured last year, I found it really hard to find the time to read. So every night, I’m going to take an hour before my head hits my pillow and read. With my home renovations still going strong, and all the seasonal activities I have going on, this will be a big deal for me! Maybe I can get Mr. Man to join me in this new goal. His goal is to read 1 book this year (LOL).
3. I’m also determined to read 100 books this year. I know this is a challenge, but it is also a goal for me! Last year, I was really disappointed in myself for not accomplishing this challenge. Now, I’m even more determined!
Blogging Goals:
1.ย The first Blogging Goal of mine is to be more frequent when posting. I plan to bring content to my blog each and every day of 2024! Here’s to hoping I can end the year on a strong note.
2. I always want to be more social, and that is where my Instagram and my Facebook pages come in. I miss Instagram! When I lived in Oxford, I had a room set up for my book photoshoots and moving really put a damper on my instagram.. Now, I’m ready to return to Instagram! I plan to bring more content such as mini reviews, book hauls, and top reads to my socials this year!
3. Another goal is to be more social on my blog also. Last year, I tried my best to reply to everyone’s comments and replies! I love communicating with you all, so this year I plan to do better!
4. My final goal of 2024 blogging, I want to add more of my personality and more of me to my blog. And that is where my lifestyle goals comes into play!
Life & Home Goals:
I have two main goals for 2024 in mind!
1. My number one goal is to be a little more self sufficient than last year. Last year I learned all about natural remedies and herbs. This year, I want to take it a little deeper and learn how to make my own bread and pasta! I’m trying to talk Mr. Man into adding a Grain Mill to mill my own flour to our kitchen appliances…. Fingers crossed! (LOL)
2. Mr. Man and I have been remodeling the five generation farm house we bought in 2022. This year our big projects are to put a new double side door in, that should be going in by the end of January. And then the big remodel will actually happen in what will soon be our living room! I have so many plans, I can’t wait. Our living room is currently in our dinning room. Yes, we eat our dinners at the coffee table, and it’s getting a bit tiresome. Once the living room is complete, we’ll finally start furnishing our dining room! Our home is finally coming together! So my main renovation goal of 2024 is to finish the living room remodel and the dining room remodel.
