On the eve of Cash and Lilly proclaiming their love for one another, Cash arrives home to find a package in the form of a pregnant hookup waiting for him on his front porch… and a Mayson man never steps away from his responsibilities… So Cash makes the hard decision to end it with Lilly.
Now, a few years later, Cash is newly divorced with full custody of his son Jax. He isn’t looking for love, but the infamous BOOM has a way of showing up when you least expect it too. He sees Lilly and a switch flips in his head and in his heart. But it isn’t just Lilly, it’s Lilly and the little girl calling her mommy. The little girl that shares the same eyes he and his son also share.
My Thoughts:
You all know I’m a sucker for a secret baby/Surprise! You’re a daddy romance novel. Well let me introduce the novel that had me falling hard and fast into this trope fandom! No matter how many times I read this novel, I fall all over again!
Lilly and Cash’s story holds no barriers. I loved every word, every moment, and every feeling Aurora Rose Reynolds brings to this novel.
Let’s start with Lilly first. Lilly was the one that felt the brunt of the tragedy and turmoil in this novel. I loved the fact that she showed strength through all the trials that tested her. I also loved the fact that she never thought of Cash’s son in a negative light. I loved the fact that she saw him as a part of Cash. The motherly role Jax was missing dissolved the day Lilly entered his life, and I loved every soft moment between the two of them.
Now let’s talk about Cash. Throughout the series, my heart broke for Cash. I was anticipating his novel, and once again, I loved this man and his story. He showed great strength when it comes down to being a single father. When his eyes landed on Lilly and Ashlyn, he knew he had royally screwed up. I loved how he was with Ashlyn and Jax. It’s always sexy to see a man step up to his responsibilities and Cash filled that roll exquisitely.
Things between Cash and Lilly aren’t all rainbows’ and sunshine… especially with Cash’s slightly psychotic ex roaming about. But through all the challenges these two were there beside one another fighting the fight every step of the way. I loved the united front between these two. My heart soared for them and that is why I decided to rate this book 4 ½ stars. I loved the strong bond between all four of them! My heart couldn’t get enough of this one!
Overall, I loved everything about Cash and Lilly’s story. If I had to pick a reason why I dropped ½ a star it would be for the fact that I wanted to see a little more solo time between Cash and his daughter. I would have loved to see them build a father/daughter relationship rather than it always being Lilly, Jax, Cash and Ashlyn together in those moments. But what can I say, I’m a spoiled reader.
