Bleeding Love by Harper Sloan is the second book in her Hope Town series. I’m warning you right now, if you decide to pick up this novel, you may also want to grab a box of tissues, a bottle of Jack’s finest (because wine isn’t going to be strong enough), and a good blanket to cry into while you’re at it! Because at the end of the day, this book is going to leave you an emotional mess! Right now I’m feeling this strong urge to go through Harper Sloan’s publishing list and 1-click every single novel she’s ever put out into the world I know, it’s a little over the top.. But when I tell you, this author had me bawling my eyes out, don’t take that lightly. Bleeding Love is a learning to live again novel. What I mean by that is, learning to live and to love again after the death of a spouse, so if this is a trigger for you, I highly recommend you go into this novel with that in mind. 

Megan’s life didn’t start off as rainbows and roses, she was born into a family who cared more about drugs and alcohol than they did for their own daughter. In fact, the only shining light she had in her life was Jack. He’s been her one constant throughout her life. He stood by her side through all the tragedy, and stepped up to the plate when she needed someone to lean on and act as a protector. The day Jack tragically passed away fighting for his country, was the day Megan lost a piece of her soul.

Now, Megan is wading through the motions of life, only offering her true self to her five year old daughter, Molly. In her mind, if she doesn’t form any attachments and relationships, the devastation that comes with loss will never touch her again…

There is one man, who refuses to let Megan drift through lifelessly and he’ll do everything in his power to make her feel again. Every small emotion she shows him, is another victory and accomplishment towards winning Megan’s heart and bringing her back to life, metaphorically of course. He’s about to find out the fight that comes with healing Megan may be the biggest fight of his life.

My Thoughts:

My heart is still beating wildly for Bleeding Love. I don’t remember a time where I felt so much emotion while reading a love story, but holy hell, did Harper Sloan force all the feelings out of me…. Almost like Liam did with Megan! Let’s just say, I feel like Megan isn’t the only one that healed throughout this novel. And that is why Bleeding Love by Harper Sloan holds the number one spot of my 2023 favorites list!! Yes, this book was that good!

From the moment Liam saw Megan, he knew he found his one true love. One thing I loved about Liam, he didn’t push Megan into reciprocating those feelings. He slowly let her see what was standing in front of her. He slowly showed her how great life can be after traveling through the darkness that is loss. My heart can’t get over how much this man cared and loved Megan. Harper Sloan flawlessly showed in great detail, true love at its finest. I absolutely adore this man and all he went through. This man dove into the dark abyss that was Megan’s mind and practically brought her back to the surface, kicking and screaming. That just goes to show, this man would do anything, even give up his own life for those who have a piece of his heart. Trust me when I say, there was a time where I wished he would throw in the towel to protect his own heart from what could very well be a horrible ending, but this man pushed through and conquered all of Megan’s pain and the guilt that resided within her soul. This man fought the war and the battle, and came out as the victor! 

As for Megan, this woman’s story had me crying buckets of tears. I literally spent all day, yesterday, sitting on my front porch swing with this book in my hands. There was one main reason behind why i spent the entire day reading, that reason being, I couldn’t put this one day without knowing that Megan and her five year old daughter, Molly, were going to be alright by the last page. I felt like a bystander watching from the sidelines and loudly cheering on this single mother and her adorable little girl. I wanted them both to find true love. I wanted Megan to find her soulmate, and I wanted Molly to find that man that she will forever compare other men to, her father. And believe me when I say, I wasn’t putting this novel down until every damn person in this scenario lived out there happily ever after! I was that consumed, and that addicted to this story!

I will definitely be going back and reading through Harper Sloan’s published list. I feel slighted a bit, there were so many characters and family members that were mentioned and shown throughout this novel, and I’m intrigued by a few! I definitely need Axel’s story and Beck’s story! I also want to read Dani and Cohen’s story! Let’s just say I have a lot of reading to do in the near future!

Overall, There wasn’t a single moment of Bleeding Love that I can criticize. I loved every single moment! I hope you all decide to give Megan and Liam’s story a read…but be warned, don’t forget the tissues.
