My Thoughts:
The Valentine Texas Series is starting off on a strong note! I’m sitting here coming up with theories of what else the Valentine crew is going to bring to the table! There is no denying the fact that I love small town romances, and southern small town romances happen to be high up on that list. From the back and forth banter to the lust factor and ending with all of the neverending love, there is no denying that I loved every moment between Summer and Beckett.
Summer’s troubled fate with her flowers had me laughing my butt off! I have the green thumb in my family, I have a close friend who tends to kill flowers/succulents/and all plants! Summer reminds me of her in so many ways! So thank you, Lyra Parish, for bringing my memories back to the surface!
What I think I loved most of all though, was how stubborn Beckett and Summer both were. There were moments when i felt like pulling the hair from my head. I wanted to reach into this kindle and shake both characters while lecturing them on how to get their shit together. It was a whirlwind of emotions, that’s for damn sure!
The reasoning behind why I gave Bless Your Heart a four star rating is because even though I loved the romance between Beckett and Summer, I do have to say this novel was a bit predictable. And even though I loved how the ending turned out, I wanted a little more surprise from that ending moment. This novel revolved around the bidding war, that’s how Beckett and Summer grew closer and uncovered years of yearning and years of hidden love. I don’t know, I guess I wanted a tad bit more mystery around who the owner was going to choose. I would have also liked a few more one on one conversations that didn’t abruptly end in sexy time scenes. For two people who have loved each other since they were younger, I wanted to feel the depth of their connection. I felt a bit, I wanted a tad bit more.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading Bless Your Heart by Lyra Parish. Sure, there were things I wanted more of and things I wish I hadn’t been able to predict easily, but the romance and chemistry between Beckett and Summer evened everything out. Honestly, I can’t wait to get my hands on Kinsley’s story in Spill The Sweet Tea. I have a feeling the element of surprise is going to be high with this one!
