Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted byย That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week is a new bookish category in which we get to brag about our favorite books that fit with the weekโs category. You can pick your top 5, 10, 15โฆor so on. I tend to keep my list to ten!
Todayโs category: Indie/Self-Published Books
Today I decided to put a little spin on the category and list my favorite Indie/Self-Published authors. I hope you all enjoy today’s post. I’m always looking for new-to-me authors, so let me know in the comments below if you have a favorite self-published author!
Let’s Get Started!
Small Town Vibes with Family and Friendship Values.
I love romance novels that take me back to my hometown. I grew up in a small town (population: 923), I then moved to a bigger area (Population: 23,654) Let’s just say, this life wasn’t for me so last year Mr. Man and I moved a few miles outside of our hometown (Population: 302 residents). I’m no stranger to Small Town Romances, after all, I’m living my very own small town romance.

Angsty/Emotional Romance Novels That’ll Have You Begging For a Happily Ever After, Sooner Rather Than Later!
There is no greater feeling than purchasing a book, and knowing before you even break the spine, that this one will leave you gasping for air and clutching your heart. I started reading romance at eleven years old. In all my time of reading, I have only found a handful of authors that have the power to break my heart. Here are a few of my favoriteย self-published authors and the books that had me in a corner, clutching my kindle, and beginning for mercy!

Romance Novels That’ll Have You Rockin’ Out!
A favorite romance trope of mine are Rockstar/Musician Romances. And like every other trope, there are a group of authors in my mind that excel at creating a world that is not only sinful but also addicting! What makes an author unlike the hundreds of authors that publish the same trope on a daily basis. Well for starters, they need to know the ins and outs of the business. Meaning, I love when an author, not only, focuses on the relationship but also gives an effort with researching and detailing the job at hand. In regards to novels involving rockstars/musicians for me to really enjoy it, there has to be a strong stage presence, a little down time guitar picking, and an overwhelming love for music. It’s not going to work if the career/hobby at hand is an afterthought. Come to think of it, I’m pretty sure this is the trope I’m most picky with. But along the way, I’ve found a handful of novels/authors that have done their research, put in the time, and wrote some epic romances involving rockstars/musicians.

Have You On The Edge Of Your Seat Motorcycle Club Romance Novels!
Another one of my favorite tropes/sub-genres in romance is Motorcycle Club Romance Novels. I have Sons of Anarchy to thank for this obsession.ย And the same goes for this trope that went with the rockstar/musician trope. In order to capture my attention, the author has to bring something to the table that hasn’t been placed there. I also look for loads of danger and a little violence in the name of love. Basically, I want the biker, whether he be an alpha-male or an Anti-Hero to throw down and do everything in his power to protect the woman he loves. I want him to give up a little piece of himself and prove his loyalty to his woman, club be damned. I also expect his love interest to understand that she has a man willing to throw himself in front of a bullet to protect her, but club life is his life, and she needs to accept that. I’m not asking for much, right! So in my years of searching, I’ve only found twoย self publishedย authors that bring all that and so much more to the table! Hopefully in the future I can find a few more authors to add to this list, but as of right now, I’m not holding my breath.

Peace Love and Happy Reading,

Iโve learned so much about the romance genre from reading your TTT posts. I didnโt know there were so many subgenres in that genre!
My post: https://lydiaschoch.com/top-ten-tuesday-self-published-books-i-plan-to-review/
It’s unreal how many subgenres and tropes there are in romance novels! There is something for everyone. You just have to find the gems in all the chaos. ๐
Love Tijan and Aurora Rose Reynolds!
There novels are so good!! I always look forward to their new releases.
I should have put Tijan on my list! And ARR! I did have Ryan. Great list!
Thank you! There were so many more I could have listed! Honestly, these days, I read more indie authors than traditionally published authors.
