Synopsis:

The princess isn’t supposed to dethrone the king.

Elsa
He said he’ll destroy me, and he did.
I might have lost the battle, but the war is far from over.
They say it starts with one move to dethrone the king.
No one mentioned he’ll yank me with him on the way down.

Aiden
If Steel’s little princess wants a war, then war it is.
There’s only one rule: my rules or none at all.
By all means, show me what you got, sweetheart.

Steel Princess is book two of Royal Elite series and should be read after Deviant King. This is a dark, mature new adult romance and contains dubious situations that some readers might find offensive.
This book is part of a trilogy and is NOT standalone. The entire trilogy is available.

Steel Princess is the second book in Rina Kent’s Royal Elite Series! This is a warning, if you haven’t read Deviant King by Rina Kent (first book in the Royal Elite Series) I highly recommend you read that one before diving into Steel Princess, due to Deviant King ending in a cliffhanger and Steel Princess picking up right where Deviant King left off. I’m so thankful I decided to wait to read the Royal Elite Series when it was completed, rather than read as the books are published. I dived right into this bad boy directly after finishing Deviant King!! Aiden and Elsa were my current weekly obsession! Due to Aiden and Elsa’s story being a dark romance with a tale woven in pure suspense, I’m going to try to keep my reviews as spoiler free as I possibly can. But we all know how I get when I go on my rambling rampages. So we’ll see how well I stick with my no spoilers police in this review.

Elsa Steel lives her life one heartbeat at a time. With grace and all that involves. But beneath the surface, she feels as if something is missing. There’s a darkness that lives deep within her soul, and something deep within her has a flashing arrow pointing directly at her bully, Aiden King.

Aiden King lives his life as if he were a chess piece. One step at a time, with always thinking of every move that’ll be made against him beforehand. This man is always two steps ahead of the game. But with a father as vicious and vile as his, he can’t let his guard down. And that guard includes the one he can’t forget about. The one who once shined a bright light on his worst nightmare…. Elsa. Only Elsa is different from the little girl he once knew. And he’ll do everything in his power to get that little girl back again, even if it means tormenting the demons from her soul and exposing the deepest darkest secrets they keep hidden.

My Thoughts:

Steel Princess is a continuation to Deviant King, in this book there’s more romance and a tad bit less bullying. Let’s be honest, the more I read Aiden and Elsa’s story, the more I want and the more I fall completely in love with their twisted romance! I’m blown away by the mystery Rina Kent weaves in the lives of these two characters. I loved the fact that this book was dual point of view. That’s right, we get a glimpse into Elsa’s thoughts, and this time around, we get a glimpse into Aiden’s thoughts! I loved seeing the intensity and emotions through his point of view. I loved seeing his domineering ways and the reasoning behind what made him the man he is today. The fear and the darkness. I understood this man and his actions even more now. Now, I understand this man and why he is so damn vicious! Aiden was born to rule and rule is exactly what he does. But what happens when the one he wants to rule over, no longer wants him due to a few small secrets he’s been hiding. What happens when he loses the trust of the only person he truly cares about….

And we also have Elsa. I loved seeing Elsa dive deeper into uncovering the past she blocked out when she was seven years old. I also loved the fact that she kicked up her stubbornness into high gear when it comes to Aiden, she didn’t let the issues go and I have to respect the girl for putting her foot down on this certain situation. I loved the greater strength she showed in this novel.

Let’s not forget about the chemistry between Elsa and Aiden within this novel. If you’ve read Deviant King, you probably noticed the intense chemistry between the two. I didn’t think it would be possible to boost that chemistry up, but Rina Kent showed me nothing is impossible when it comes to her writing and story telling! Holy hell, the chemistry was off the charts! I’m talking pure FIRE!

My mind has been hooked on Elsa and Aiden for the past four days. My kindle has been, all but, glued to my hand. It’s been a long time since I last binged a series this intensely before. So I think it’s safe to assume the book funk is officially over! I found a new love within this world of vile and vicious characters Rina Kent has created! And I also think it’s safe to assume I’m officially a fan of hers! I’m loving, not only the dark romance vibes, but also the danger that lurks between each page. However, I’m starting to notice one thing. Rina is a fan of cliffhangers and twists. Every damn time she threw a twist in the mix, I was shocked. I didn’t see half of them coming. And that cliffhanger has to be the biggest twist in this whole damn series! I wasn’t expecting that!!

And that is where I stop this review for fear of spoiling you all! There is a reasoning behind why I rated this book a four star instead of a five star, and that reasoning is because of Aiden’s somewhat pouty attitude in a few moments. I didn’t like the way he kept walking away from certain situations. So with that being said, and aside from that slight issue, I loved the second part to Aiden and Elsa’s story!! I can’t wait to dive deeper into the Royal Elite Series! If you love dark romances with heavy doses of suspense and danger, I highly recommend picking up the Royal Elite Series by Rina Kent!
