When romance novelist Kate Smith suddenly gets writer’s block as she’s beginning the final installment of her international bestselling steamy Bed ‘n Breakfast series, she’ll do pretty much anything to get her groove back.
Like sneak into a Tire Depot waiting room because her words flow there just like complimentary coffee-smooth, sweet, and scorchingly hot.
She manages to fly under the radar until the rugged and charming mechanic, Miles Hudson, notices the quirky redhead slinking in and out of the employees only entrance.
But she’s way too intriguing to blow the whistle on.
Doing a test-drive of her new book idea sounds like a much better option.

Yes! Yes! Yes! You want to talk about book boyfriends, well this hero who goes by the name Miles is the epitome of book boyfriend. He has the status on lock down! I loved this man from the beginning of this book until the very end. But we’ll get to the why’s a little later in my review. Right now let’s look at what Wait With Me Is all about.
Wait With Me is the first book in the Wait With Me Series written by Amy Daws. Having only read one book by this author, I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into. All I knew was this book has been on my tbr for way too long and I needed to pick it up and give it a chance. This romance also happens to have dual points of view.
Kate Smith spends her days cooking up stories that would make even the naughtiest of sailor’s blush under the pen name of Mercedes. But after her long term relationship crashed and burnt, Kate finds herself with a heavy case of writer’s block. That is until she takes her car into the Tire Shop to get it fixed. So day after day she sneaks back to the Tire Shop to cling onto that sudden burst of writing mojo she’s been missing. Sitting ther in the CCC she suddenly finds her inspiration and her drive to write the next book in her series. But along the way, she meets a swoony mechanic who happens to inspire a whole new happily ever after. Her happily ever after. But Miles doesn’t know her as Kate Smith, he knows her as her alias, Mercedes.
The mechanic at the tire shop, Miles, hasn’t been interested in dating since he cut the cord attaching him to his last doomed relationship. But if he were interested in dating again, it’d be with the woman constantly sneaking into the Tire Shop waiting lobby. Mercedes is her name, and something deep inside of him is begging him to take a risk. But his mind won’t stop reliving his last relationship. He invokes the friend zone clause… but let’s face the facts, the friend zone never works and feelings always get involved. Miles is just hoping this won’t be another crash site on his map of relationships….
My Thoughts:
My initial thought after I finished Wait With Me was we definitely need more mechanics like Miles in the romance world! This man should get the book boyfriend award. Not only is Miles sexy as hell and good with his hands, obviously. But he’s also caring and compassionate. The man has been burned badly and basically stays away from all forms of drama. It was exciting to see him let down the steel wall around his heart. I loved watching him fall in love, but not mean to fall in love.
And then we have Kate… aka Mercedes… I loved the fact that this woman was a plain jane until she morphed into her alias. It was interesting to see her alias and her actual self collide and morph into one spectacular human being. Given the fact that she’s been shunned by not only her family members, but also her ex-boyfriend for being a romance author, It’s no wonder Kate hides Mercedes in the shadows of her brain, and it’s no wonder she had writer’s block. I loved seeing Miles and his family so supportive when it comes to her writing romance and erotica. This fact made Miles’ character so much more.
In the end, I loved this novel. I loved how much Amy Daws had me laughing. I also loved the little punches of angst she threw at my heart. I’ll definitely be reading more from her in the near future. But now let’s discuss why I gave Wait With Me by Amy Daws a four star rating instead of a full 5 stars. I loved this novel, but I felt there were moments that didn’t blend as flawlessly into the story as they should have. I felt a bit of a slowdown and I found myself turning a few pages to get to an interesting event. I also wanted more of an epic happily ever after type ending between these two. I needed more depth into their end result.
Overall, and aside from the one small issue I had, I loved Kate and Miles’ epic romance. Everything from the playful banter to the sexy as sin scenes was a go for me. I can’t wait to see where the Wait With Me series goes next! I’ll be diving into the next book, Next In Line, later today! I can’t wait!!
