As if things aren’t already tough enough as the only girl on a college football team, Coach had to go and assign Zeke Collins as my roommate.
A cocky kick returner and my brother’s best friend who should have been ripped of that title years ago, he’s as infuriating as he is undeniably sexy.
I hate him, and for good reason — reason I won’t ever let him forget.
He thinks because we grew up together that it’s his role to protect me, but all he does is get in my way, make me look weak, and piss me off more.
I tell him I can handle myself, and I’m hell-bent on getting that point across to him and the rest of the nation watching the only girl in collegiate football.
The pressure doesn’t get to me. The scrutiny? I’m ready for.
But sharing very thin walls with Zeke Collins? I wasn’t prepared for that.
And the more we’re forced together, the harder it is to distinguish that pencil-thin line between hating him… and wanting him.

I’m not well versed when it comes to Kandi Steiner, her novels, or her writing style. This is the second book I read and finished from her; the first book was A Love Letter to Whiskey and let’s just say, i felt, Fair Catch had some big shoes to fill. Well, Kandi Steiner did just that. This author had me, once again, falling for her characters and crossing my fingers that everything would work out in the end. Everything about this book had me immediately picking it up as soon as it was released. From the cover to the synopsis, I decided to forgo my monthly reading list and I picked this one up.
One thing I’ve learned is Kandi Steiner knows her stuff when it comes to football. If you’re looking for a sports romance with an emphasis on sport and if you’re a fan of football, I highly recommend you don’t hesitate on picking this one up. Kandi Steiner had me feeling like I was on the sidelines watching each and every play. I love when authors have the power and capability to put their readers in those precise moments. Almost like we’re a part of the moment. I’m not a professional when it comes to football knowledge, but with this novel, I actually felt like I learned a thing or two about the sport. So, if you’re the type of reader who loves sports romance novels for the game play moments and an overall emphasis on the sport itself, I highly recommend this book! If you love feisty women dominating in what is typically an all male dominated sport, definitely pick up Fair Catch!!
Now onto the romance aspect… I loved the obstacles thrown at Zeke and Riley. These two have a tragic past… one being the causer of said tragic past, while the other isn’t so quick to forgive. And without going into anymore detail on that situation, I’m going to say… If Riley and Zeke could overcome that, they can officially get through anything life has to throw at them. On a romantic aspect, I was rooting for these two from the beginning. On a personality aspect, let’s just say these two characters each have their own set of flaws. The stubborn vibes shine brightest when they’re backed in a corner. I couldn’t get enough of the back and forth banter. These two fought fate, but in the end, fate always wins.
Now, I rated this one a 4 1/2 star and I dropped a half star strictly for one particular moment towards the end of the story. Let’s just say, Miss Riley pissed me off by her actions towards Zeke. If you say you forgive someone, that doesn’t give you any grounds to use past mistakes for ammunition down the road later. I literally wanted to reach into the book and shake this woman for all the harshness she threw at Zeke. This man was a broken soul looking to be mended by the only woman who could, and that woman turns around and fires round after round right into his heart. If I were Zeke, there would be no coming back from that…. And that’s all I’m going to say! But aside from all that, Kandi Steiner is a literary genius! I loved her writing style and her uncanny attention to details… WOW!
Okay, I think I’ve rambled on enough about this novel. Overall, Fair Catch by Kandi Steiner is a novel I recommend to all who love sports romances, with angst, heat, and an over-abundance on chemistry! I can’t wait to pick up more books from Kandi Steiner in the future!!

This one was more angsty than I wanted at times (because of mood), but I liked it all. I did get frustrated with her ability to judge him for every little thing, but I got it. Great review!
