Synopsis:
I never imagined my new roommate would be the man I’d actually fall for. Though I don’t get close to the people I sleep with, he’s been my exception. Archer acts emotionally unavailable while he focuses on starting over, but our connection is too strong to ignore.
He’s rugged on the outside and sweet on the inside—the opposite of my usual type. I see the way his eyes gaze up and down my body, making it harder to keep my feelings in check. Knocking down his walls is no easy task, especially with my brother interfering, but I refuse to give up.
When lines are crossed and emotions bubble over, trouble finds us. We both have pasts that have leaked into our present—now I’m scared it’ll destroy the one secret we’ve been keeping.

With every series Kennedy Fox brings to an end, I feel this intense and profound amount of heartbreak. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters. But alas, every good thing must eventually come to an end.
Kennedy Fox’s Lawton Ridge Duet Series first brought us Tyler and Gemma’s second chance romance with a best friend’s brother twist. Then we were given Noah and Katie’s single parent with a side of enemies to lovers romance. And now, the moment finally came, and Kennedy Fox brought Archer and Everleigh’s older brother’s best friend trope! And believe me when I say, I have been waiting for Everleigh’s story since I started this whole duet series! They definitely saved the best for last!! Wanting You Close is the second book in Archer and Everleigh’s journey. If you haven’t read Forcing You Away, I highly recommend you go back and read that one before diving into this one.
Here’s a little tidbit on what this novel is about. So, Archer and Everleigh are officially in love. But being in love is the easy part of their relationship. The hard part comes with having to tell Archer’s best friend he’s in love with his sister… Add that to the fact there is someone wanting to find and end Archer and Everleigh’s happiness is really putting a dampener in the honeymoon phase. Archer will do everything in his power to see that Everleigh is never in danger again. He damn near lost her once, he won’t take that chance again. Bottom line, If you’re looking for a romance with a high level of suspense, I think you’ve found your next read.
Now onto what I thought about the characters and their relationship, communication, and the overall story. First, I loved how Everleigh and Archer’s separate personalities outweighed one another. Archer was the calm to Everleigh’s crazy. Everleigh was the adventure to Archer’s lay low persona. I loved these two together and I loved how their individual vibes meshed flawlessly. They both brought the best out of one another. And I found myself often swooning over Archer’s romantic ways! This man had my heart stuttering time after time.
There is no doubt I loved this novel and series, so why did I drop a star on my rating? I decided to drop a star due to the ending and a few scenes having a rushed feel to them. I wanted a few moments to be drawn out a bit more… so let’s chalk it up to my spoiled reader syndrome.
Overall, I really enjoyed this duet series. Kennedy Fox continues to slay everything they write! I was intrigued from the start and now this duo is one of my top three auto buy authors! It’s an endless addiction! If I had to pick my favorite duet from this series, I’d say it was Everleigh and Archer’s duet. I’m a sucker for suspense and the brother’s best friend trope. Anything with forbidden vibes, I’m all for. If you are a similar reader, I definitely recommend this duet to you.
