From USA Today Bestselling Author Rebecca Yarros comes an enemies to lovers rock star romance.
If I can keep Hush Note’s leading guitarist, Nixon Winters, on the straight and narrow for the next six months, I’ll finally get my own band to manage–assuming we don’t kill each other first.
The egotistical, irritating rock star is fresh out of rehab, but it’s obvious his demons followed him home–and now I’m sleeping down the hall. I’ve watched him self-destruct every summer, and with album deadlines and tour dates looming, I can’t let it happen again. My career is in his hands.
But tattoos can’t cover every scar, and I’m starting to see through his trademark, irresistible charm to the damage beneath.
Everyone wants the rock star.
I’m falling for the man.
If he doesn’t let me in,
he’ll never break the cycle–
And when these six months are up,
I might be the one left broken.
My Review
I never thought the time would come…. The time when I find myself rating a series with all five stars! The Hush Note Series gets all the kudos and all the stars!!! I’m still in shock over this series, but especially over how much I loved Nixon Winters!! Be prepared to have your heart broken and be prepared for the swoon!!!
In My Own Words:
Nixon Winters is an anomaly. You see, he’s one of the most notorious rockers. He’s known for his hookups, his addiction to alcohol, and his killer licks on the guitar. But what the world doesn’t know is Nixon Winters is living with some heavy demons weighing down his soul. He’s living with secrets and his secrets are quickly starting to pull him under.
Recently released from rehab, Nixon finds himself at a stand still. Not only does he have his bandmates breathing down his neck, now he has a live in shadow, following his every move, and Zoe Shannon isn’t about to let him go back to his old ways.
Zoe Shannon’s dream has always been to scout and manage bands. It’s taken years of let downs and her ambitious nature to get to where she is, and she’s not about to let an egotistical rock star set her back further. If she can get Nixon on the straight and narrow, there may be a promotion in her future. She’ll finally be able to find and manage bands with no influence from her boss. It’s a dream job…. With one obstacle standing in the way.
My Thoughts:
Just to throw it out there, this novel has some subjects that some readers may find triggering. Nixon’s story deals with alcohol abuse and addiction, if you find this subject triggering I highly suggest and warn you to go into this one with your eyes wide open.
Nixon stole my heart from the very beginning of this series. I’m always falling for the characters that can make me laugh, and Nixon definitely did that. But throughout the series, I’ve always felt a sort of sadness where his character is concerned. I thought Zoe was the perfect match for him. Her strength is exactly what Nixon needed. He didn’t need coddling and he didn’t need her to tell him what to do. She let him live, she let him breath, she let him be. And in the end, they fell hopelessly in love with one another.
I’m a sucker for an underdog story. I love the redemption mixed in the trials and life lesson’s. Nixon came a long way in this series. He was the man who was a mystery. He refused to lean on his friends and he refused to talk about his past. But every time one of his friends needed him, he was right there by their side. When Zoe came along, she also had a closed heart. Having her own past that bruised and broke her heart, she was just as closed up in that department as Nixon was. It really touched my heart to see them both slowly start to open up to one another. I loved these moments of clarity the most. I loved witnessing the walls go down and the trust come through.
Rebecca Yarros did Nixon’s story justice! Sobriety is a struggle and the way Yarros detailed it all, gave me more of an insight to the struggles not only Nixon, but everyone around him has faced. It takes a team to help someone through addiction. Jonas, Quinn, and Zoe were Nixon’s team. This novel touched my heart in so many ways. It deserves all the stars!
Do I recommend this novel?
Hands down, there is no doubt in my mind, YES! Muses and Melodies isn’t only a love story, it’s a story about redemption. A story about finding yourself through all the chaos. A story about battling the demons that live within your soul and finding it in yourself to forgive all the wrongs you committed. Nixon’s story is heartbreaking but if you stick it out until the end, you’ll see what true triumph looks like! And it’s absolutely breathtaking.

You did love it! Yay! This was my favorite in the series.
I absolutely loved everything about Nixon Winters!! If I had to pick my favorite it would be a tie between Quinn and Nixon’s stories. I loved how unique they both were!
I wouldn’t be disappointed if these three ladies decided to write another series together.
I wouldn’t be either. Or just spin offs for the characters they added.
