I’ve fallen victim to a heinous act.
An act so vile, so downright dirty, that I’m not sure as a twenty-year-old man I’ll ever recover. Brace yourself, because what I’m about to tell you might have you gasping in secondhand horror.
Ready? Here it goes . . .
I’ve recently become the pawn of a meddling mom.
Yes . . . A MEDDLING MOM–who’s been trying to set me up all summer.
Now, I understand it’s not a crime for a mother to want her child to fall in love, but when she makes it her relentless MISSION, the heinous act should be classified as a misdemeanor at least.
Of course, my mom, the evil matriarch in the devil’s leggings, made her final stab at finding a girl for me days before I went back to college.
And I hate to admit it, but she saved a doozy for last.
A titan in black skinny jeans.
A boss of nonchalance.
And a girl who would not only turn my life upside down, but do it while juggling a soccer ball, looking effortlessly gorgeous around campus, and is one hundred percent against relationships. Of any sort.
Thanks, Mom.

Holy Swoon!
Lincoln Castle has finally arrived!!
About The Setup:
The Setup is a friends to lovers, romantic comedy told from both Lincoln and Indie’s point of view. Baseball heartthrob meets the vixen of soccer.
On the outside you’d think Lincoln Castle has the perfect life. He’s a well known college baseball pitcher looking his draft year in the eye. His dreams of playing professional baseball are a huge possibility, he has his small circle of friends, and he has the sport groupies eating out of the palm of his hand. What more could a man ask for…
Indie Mayhem needs a good season in order for her dreams of going pro to come true. Her main focus is to kill it on the field and in order to do that, she needs a clear mind and sharp focus….
When you add two overzealous matchmakers in the form of their mother’s to the equation. You get complete chaos… and a love meant to last lifetimes.
My Thoughts:
I think Lincoln Castle just ran off with my heart!! Holy hell this book is one hell of a journey, but that’s what I have easily come to expect from Meghan Quinn! Every new book is a new adventure into a world full of laughs, crazy antics, and heart string pulling moments. There is never a dull moment, that’s for damn sure.
I’ve made it my mission, with this series, to go into each book with a blind notion. I try as hard as I can to avoid spoilers and teasers. I want to take in the stories with nothing but my own thoughts in my mind and I feel these relationships are best experienced firsthand and without bias. So far, my mission has been successful and I’ve come to love each and every character within this series of standalones that much more.
Baseball is my absolute favorite sport! There’s nothing better than getting lost in a baseball romance for a few hours. Lately though, I’ve been really enjoying soccer romances. To be honest, I don’t remember ever sitting back and watching a soccer game, nor have I ever really cared for the sport…. Let’s just say I have horrible gym flashbacks. I still fear the dreaded soccer ball to the face scenario that played out a time or two… I’ve come to the realization, I really enjoy soccer in romances! I love the shown dedication and time it takes to achieve your greatest potential. There’s a sense of discipline within these novels that I rarely see in other sports novels. Indie’s dedication to the sport is inspiring.
Lincoln and Indie may just be one of my favorite couples to come from this series of standalones. I loved everything about these two! From their endless banter, the sexy innuendos, and the slow burn vibes. Lincoln and Indie have the makings for a great love story! I’m not going to lie, the slow burn drove me near to insanity! The sexual tension was off the charts, and there were moments I legit shouted at my kindle. The chemistry is so hot with these two. It’s undeniable! But what’s better than an explosion of lust is watching two people slowly get to know one another, form a friendship, and build it up to a little more than friends. I love the excitement that goes along with watching two people slowly getting to know each other and quickly becoming the best of friends. The camaraderie between Indie and Lincoln is an important factor of this novel. These two were meant to be best friends first and all it took was two meddling mothers and a blind date for them to see the potential. She was the person he needed at that time in his life and vice versa. It was refreshing to witness two initial strangers meeting and over a series of months forming a bond that becomes unbreakable. The timing of every situation was on point.
Lincoln’s moms made this novel that much more epic!! I found myself laughing the most when Lincoln would go back home and spend time with his moms! I found myself laughing even harder when Indie was brought into the mix with open arms. I loved how they all seemed to, endearingly, gang up on Lincoln. It made for some hilarious moments.
Lincoln and Indie in each other’s natural element made for some of my absolute favorite moments! When Lincoln can’t reach his goal, to pitch ninety five miles per hour, Indie easily narrows down his problem. His legs simply aren’t strong enough to produce the fast pitch. So with Indie by his side, they hit the gym and work together to achieve his dream. I couldn’t get enough of seeing these two helping one another out. I loved the friendship, the endless banter, and seeing them grow closer with time.
There’s more to The Setup than endless banter and hilarious moments. There’s also an angst underlying where Indie is concerned. You see, this girl is the keeper of a deep family secret. A secret that is slowly crushing her soul, jading her heart, and giving her a darker outlook on how she wants her life to be in the future. With this situation, comes a lack of communication, and a fear of getting to close and having your world self destruct all around you. My heart broke for Indie and all she’d been bottling up.
With that being said, I’m going to close this review by saying I highly recommend The Setup to all those who love friends to lovers, endless banter, and competitive sports romances. Indie and Lincoln have all that and so much more!!
I need more!!!
