BREAKING NEWS: The Bad Boy of Baseball, Maddox Paige, is totally and utterly whipped.

Okay, that might not be the headlines in the newspaper this morning, but it’s the reality of my current situation.

It all started a month ago when I received a call from my best friend, Kinsley. She got a new job in Chicago and needed a place to stay. I’ve known the girl since I was five, what harm would it be to have her stay at my place for a while?

Ha! Total disaster.

Now instead of going out every night with my teammates, I’m couch surfing and sketching endless photos of my best friend . . . but that’s the least of my concerns.

The disaster, you ask? I’m rapidly falling head over cleats in love with my best friend, my roommate, and my number one fan.

And she has no idea . . .

MADDOX ‘FREAKING’ PAIGE!!!!

Meghan Quinn did the damn thing with this book! The bad boy of baseball is finally getting his story, and you all may be surprised that this man wears the bad boy exterior but beneath the surface he’s a sweetheart. I swooned so freaking hard!!!

About The Change Up:

Maddox is at the prime of his baseball career. He’s one of the top pitchers in the industry, he has not one woman but three to warm his bed when his needs suffice, and he has a best friend that has the ability to bring a smile to his face whenever and wherever. Well, all that’s about to change, and the change starts when he invites his best friend to crash with him for as long as she needs after she gets the opportunity of a lifetime and her dream job lands at her feet.

Kinsley is determined to make the world a better and healthier place for all. So when she gets her dream job in Chicago, she can’t say no. Everything she’s ever wanted is within fingertip reach. Getting away from her mother’s over protectiveness is one step away. Only problem is, she has to find a place to stay.

When her best friend, Maddox, offers her his couch for a few weeks, she can’t say no. Everything is falling into place.

Everything is perfect… until feelings start to change and a stronger love starts to consume the two of them.

My Thoughts:

Meghan Quinn has rocked this series of baseball romance standalones. But if I’m being honest, nobody compares to Maddox Paige!! For me to say this is a lot. I loved every single hero in this series. They are all special in their own ways, but Maddox… there is no doubt in my mind, he’s officially my favorite.

This year I find myself reaching for the friends to lovers type tropes. The main aspect I love about this trope along with Maddox and Kinsley’s story is the fragility woven within the pages. These two are as close as close can be. They’ve been best friends since they were five years old and kept that relationship tight through all the years after. They even have a set time they call each other per month. So when you have a friendship that is tight and that close knit, there’s a fear of crossing the line and diving into uncharted territories. Because once you cross that line, there is no jumping back to the other side if things get messy. I felt that fear throughout the majority of The Change Up. But while I was watching these two and their crazy antics I realized some risks are meant to be taken, otherwise there would be no sign of fate intervening.

I love a true underdog story. I love watching a character who grew up with a shitty childhood overcome every wrong that was committed to him/her. Maddox Paige grew up with every obstacle thrown at him, but through all of his trials and tribulations, Maddox had Kinsley to help him get through the tough situations. He had her to show him the good within himself, he had her to lean on. I truly felt all of the emotions in this novel. Meghan Quinn rocked this novel in the best possible way.

Overall, The Change Up threw me through the emotional wringer. I laughed and I cried. There were moments I felt complete joy and moments I felt absolutely devastation. But through all the emotions, all the smiles, all the hopes, and all the tears I felt complete. Meghan Quinn is a queen in her craft. Every time I read a novel written by her, I feel EVERYTHING. Her words touch my soul and her stories find a place to nestle deep in my heart. Her words are one of the reason’s why I read romance novels. Maddox Paige is just a nice juicy cherry on top! I highly recommend this one to all those looking for that perfect friends to lovers romance.
