M. Robinson ran away with my heart!!! The Queen of Angst has cast her arrows once more.
Because this is a the conclusion to a duet, I’m not going to go into much detail on what the novel is about. In order to not post spoilers, I try to avoid diving to deep into the story line. Just know, it is a definite must to read From The First Verse before diving into ‘Til The Last Lyric!
It’s a rare occurrence to get through one of M. Robinson’s novels without shedding a tear or two. So rare in fact I have made it my mission to try to fight the tears. Let’s just say, I tried to fight the tears with all of my might… but in the end… the literal end… Monica won this battle. Oh did she ever win. The tears were ENDLESS! My heart was bruised throughout this novel, until the moment it was inevitably shredded into a million little pieces.
Journey and Cash’s conclusion brought all the angst to the surface. It focuses on the struggles that come with addiction and finding a way out before hitting the inevitable rock bottom.
All Cash wanted was to be noticed and loved by his father, he lived everyday trying to make him proud. And in the end it still wasn’t enough because in order to accept love from others you have to first learn how to love yourself. Journey made it her life’s mission to show Cash what love truly is. She made it her mission to bring him back to the light and show him its okay to leave the darkness behind. It’s okay to feel pain and sorrow. for feeling those emotions allows us to better feel love and joy.
Throughout ‘Til The Last Lyric, my heart broke for both Cash and Journey. This wasn’t an easy novel to get through emotionally. It took Cash reaching his rock bottom for him to see he had an issue and an addiction. And his rock bottom literally crushed my soul! I may not be an addict, but when you feel that soul crushing loss, you don’t bounce back from it easily. I can’t even begin to imagine how an addict in Cash’s position would feel during a time of tragedy such as this. So yeah, I cried a river of tear and i’m not ashamed to admit it. My heart is still broken even through the happily ever after.
The only reason I rated this a four and a half star instead of a full five star read was due to the fact that a few moments felt extremely fast paced and rushed through. But that ending made up for a lot! I ugly cried so damn hard!
Overall, ‘Til The Last Lyric was the perfect way to end Journey and Cash’s duet! If you’re looking for a duet with loads of angst and a happily ever after that will knock your socks off… you definitely need to 1 click this duet now!
