DARK. TWISTED. SORDID. RAW. SINISTER. and DANGEROUS.
Five words that perfectly describe Stealing Cinderella by A. Zavarelli! This dark and sinister fairy tale retelling captured my attention and my heart from start to finish. So much anticipation. I was clinging to the edge of my seat.
I have been a huge fan of fairy tales from the first moment I can remember. Every little girl dreams of having the Cinderella life that comes along with meeting her prince charming and having him sweep her off her feet and carry her in the sun rising over the horizon…. Or was that just me…. and to be honest, I was a little reluctant starting Stealing Cinderella because of my childhood recollections. With that being said, I am speechless!!! I can’t believe how much I actually loved this twisted sordid fairy tale retelling!!! Holy hell, A. Zavarelli knows how to tell a story!!!
I loved the vibe throughout this whole novel. Think Cinderella meets fifty shades of grey and then mix a little bit of thor in the storyline and there you have a dark compelling read that tugged at all my heartstrings.
Thorsen has always been considered the black sheep of his family. I honestly didn’t know what to think of Thor at the beginning. He’s a man with a big chip on his shoulder and he’s also the heir to the throne. But this man has some serious issues. His mind is a dark and sinister place to venture through. Her was a complete mystery to me at the beginning.
Ella wasn’t so mysterious, her story is told right from the beginning. After watching her father get brutally murdered in from of her, Ella is thrust into the ‘cinderella’ lifestyle. The predictable evil bitch for a stepmother and two jealous stepsisters that set out to make ruining her life their soul purpose. It wasn’t very difficult to conclude what was going to happen with Ella… I found myself groaning and rolling my eyes because I honestly thought this was going to be a predictable mess.
Then the story took a turn…. and A. Zavarelli ripped the rug right out from under my feet. What I thought was going to be a very predictable read, wound up being a novel that left me stunned and speechless!
I loved Ella and Thor! These two individuals have been through hell and back. They’ve fought their fights and battled their internal wars. I loved the push and pull throughout this novel. I loved the fact that Ella was the light that shined through Thor’s darkness. This right here is what fairy tales are made of.
I can easily see myself rereading this one in the future! I can also see myself marathoning A. Zavarelli’s novels in the very near future. If you are a fan of extremely dark romances you should definitely pick this bad boy up and give it a read!!
