Blurb:
A single mother.
An up-and-coming drummer with a sordid past.
Their paths never should have crossed.
But when a senseless crime rocks Mia West’s entire world, she agrees to spend the summer hiding out at her rock-star brother’s mansion in Savannah until the storm blows over.
What she never expected was the gorgeous, brooding drummer living in the guest house.
His darkness a lure.
His gaze a trap.
She knows better than to go after what will hurt her most.
Leif Godwin has two focuses in his life: his band, Carolina George, and seeking retribution for what was stolen from him.
Mia was never supposed to be a part of the equation.
Her eyes an appeal.
Her body a temptation.
Touching her is nothing but a sin.
But will loving her destroy them all . . .
AHHH! I just finished Kiss The Stars and all I can say right now is…. THIS BOOK WAS PURE FIRE!!! A.L. Jackson puts her heart and soul into her novels and it shows in Kiss the Stars.
In My Own Words:
Kiss The Stars is the first book in the Fallen Stars Series and can be read as a complete standalone. If you loved the Bleeding Stars series, you are in for a treat! Not only will you get a glimpse into the lives of your favorite rock gods of Sunder, but you’ll also get a whole new perspective and a whole new love story.
Mia is fresh from a breakup and trying her damnedest to be the best mother she can to her two children. She’s not looking for love she’s just looking for a better way through this life. Until she runs into Leif in the library of her brother’s home. Leif is unlike any man she’s ever known, and this man has the potential to break down any and every wall she has built up.
Leif is the drummer of the country band Carolina George. He’s a man with a chip on his shoulder and a threat he can’t seem to get clear of. So when he’s offered a job that will have him traveling to a new area, he can’t say no. Especially when that new job as a fill in drummer on Sunder’s new album comes with a pretty good paycheck.
Fate has a way of stepping in and bringing two lost souls together. Mia and Leif are about to realize they are another set of pawns in fate’s game of life.
My Thoughts:
I like to go into A.L. Jackson’s novels, completely blind. I love the element of surprise that comes with reading a novel this way, it makes me fall in love with the stories and the characters that much more. So imagine my surprise when I realized Mia West was none other than Lyrik West’s little sister. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was! Lyrik is my OG favorite and to be able to get a glimpse into his life now was awesome.
I was excited, but in a way I was also scared to continue this novel. I thought, at the beginning, I was going to be so wrapped up in Lyrik’s backstory there would be no room for the actual love interests story to evolve in my mind. The more I read of Mia and Leif’s story, the more I fell for Leif and Mia’s romance!
Leif was smooth, sexy, and so damn swoony. I loved the chip on his shoulder and watching Mia slowly unravel the hard exterior he wore as a suit of armor to protect his heart. Gosh, I always fall for the bad boy with a heart of gold vibes.
Mia’s strength was uncanny. I think I loved her vibe’s most throughout this novel. I loved how she was with her children and how we easily watched her become a better version of herself.
Overall, Kiss The Stars was perfection, with some added bliss and a whole hell of a lot of angst. I couldn’t get enough. A.L. Jackson definitely put her heart and soul in Mia and Leif’s story and it shows. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!
