The night we met in the dimly lit bar, she looked like a brunette bombshell, and I wanted to learn her deepest secrets. With sun-kissed skin and soulful bedroom eyes, she was pure temptation, and I was mesmerized.
As one drink led to two, I craved more of her playful banter and taunting lips. Resisting her wasn’t an option, and we quickly became a desperate mess of tangled limbs and hot kisses. She tasted like the sweetest sin, but I was no saint.
Once we caught our breaths, and it became obvious that meeting her wasn’t a coincidence, everything changed. Now I must deny her at all costs.
Friends. It’s all we can ever be.
After years of lying to myself and keeping her at a distance, I want to pull her close. Sophie’s on my mind more than ever as my instincts to protect her take over. Regardless of my attempts to help, she pushes me away and makes it clear she doesn’t need me.
I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, to show her I’m the good guy, but one night takes a tragic turn for the worse when her boyfriend and I start throwing punches.
And ends when I’m arrested for his murder.
TRULY MINE is an angsty, slow-burn friends to lovers romance wrapped up in a tragically beautiful love story. It’s book 1 in the Mason & Sophie duet and must be read first.
Kennedy Fox has once again taken me on an emotional rollercoaster full of so many absolute highs and even more drastic lows. I was enamoured with the first part to Sophie and Mason’s story.
Mason is one of my absolute favorite characters! This man is sweet to the boot and considerate, he’s also got an alpha side a mile wide and would do anything to protect the ones he loves. This man was everything I expected him to be plus so much more. I especially loved how he was with Sophie.
I loved Sophie in the beginning of the novel. If you all read the first duet in this duet series then you may know that Sophie’s boyfriend wasn’t a very nice man at all. Through this novel we get a glimpse into Sophie’s treacherous relationship.
It goes without saying, there are a few trigger warnings that come along with this novel. If physical and emotional abuse is a trigger for you, I highly recommend you go into this one prepared for those moments.
In a way I found Sophie’s story to be inspirational. We saw this woman as a fierce independent violinist who acted as a protector towards her younger sisters and then in the span of a few months, she lost herself after being broken down repeatedly and became a shell of the person she once was. Then we slowly see her rise back up becoming the person she once was, only stronger. I loved the positive effects that came after so much negative. She’s a hero in my eyes. Any human that can revive and renounce themselves after all the tragedy they went through is a hero.
Two people with two completely different but similarly tragic backstories who are destined to be together but fight it at every turn, seriously, who wouldn’t want to read Truly Mine!!!
Overall, I am completely speechless by the drastic turn Truly Mine took! Holy hell, Kennedy Fox can really send a reader’s mind spinning and my mind is definitely spinning. I kept swiping my kindle screen to see if there was more. This book is like crack to an addict, I just need one more page!!!
I can’t wait for Truly Yours! I need answers and I need them now!!!
