Blurb:

How do you date your best friend’s sister? Easy.

Step one: Pretend you want her to set you up with someone else. That will bring the two of you closer.

Step two: Go on date with lots of random women, proceed to get stupid drunk and talk about your best friend’s sister, thus gaining the courage to finally make a move.

Step three: Randomly show up at her apartment and confess your love. Women love that, right?

It all seemed so simple. A fool-proof three-step process that will guarantee the love of you life to fall madly in love with you.

At least–that’s what I thought was going to happen. But my attempts to win over Julia Westin backfired in more ways than I can count. The thing about Julia? She’s smart–really smart–and her wicked gaze cuts through all the charm I’ve tried slinging her way. She’s not interested in games, my gifts, or my stories. She might want me too; but she’s not giving in that easy…

The Secret To Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister is Meghan Quinn’s newest release. In the past I have been a huge fan of this author’s work. She always finds a way to make me laugh out loud at the worst times imaginable. If I’m in need of a light read with a great laugh, I know to reach for one of her romantic comedies.

With that being said, it saddens me to have to say, The Secret To Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister was just an okay read for me. there were moments where I swooned over Bram and moments where I laughed at Julia’s quirkiness, but through more than half of this one I found myself skimming through the pages and looking for the juicy tidbits.

TSTDYBFS jumps back and forth from past college moments to the present. Which I found interesting and helpful when it came down to understanding Bram’s want and need for Julia.

Bram has always wanted Julia but he’s never crossed that line due to Julia’s brother being his best friend. In the past scenes we get a better insight of how deep Bram’s feelings are for Julia. This is more than a crush, this is soul burning love. But Julia doesn’t see it due to them being in two completely different social circles.

Now Bram and Julia are on the same playing field and he’s determined to make her see him for the man he is which is the man who has always wanted her…tube socks and all. He’s willing to do anything to get closer to her even construct a plan to purposely lose a bet and enroll in Julia’s well-known dating program.

My Thoughts:

First and foremost I have to mention the trio! Bram, Rath, and Roark….Oh My Holy Hell…..These men had me on the edge of my seat laughing hilariously at their wild antics. These three made for some great reading material, especially Bram and Roark! I also have to give Kudos to Bram and his ability to not lose his head over the hilariously awesome test for Julia’s dating program. I legit couldn’t control my laughter during those moments. The questions are normal but the answers were so freaking random! I just about died laughing. Those little moments saved me from DNFing this one.

But I found myself having a difficult time trying to understand and vibe with Julia. Usually I’m all for the quirky characters but something about Julia felt a bit forced in moments. I wanted more moments between Rath and Julia. I wanted more feeling from Julia, I mean she is the one who developed this kick ass and somewhat random dating program. I needed a little more from her character.

I’ve legit been dreading writing this review. I went into TSTDYBFS with the intention of being blown away and absolutely loving this one. But sometimes that isn’t the outcome when reading. Not every book is going to be your cup of tea and this one falls in the ‘just okay’ category. I’m still a huge fan of Meghan Quinn’s and will continue to read her novels as she publishes them. I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve for future reads!

Peace Love and Happy Reading,
