Blurb:

I have loved Channing Monroe all my life.

In first grade, he asked for my Trapper Keeper.
I hit him in the head with it.
Third grade, we were best friends. We kissed in seventh grade.
Eighth grade, he turned into a bad boy and the rest was a tumultuous storm.

Growing up, the problem was never love for us.
Bad times. Good times. There were times when I felt our love in every inch of my body, vibrating, making me feel like it could bring me back to life.

The problem was us.

The problem is that we’re living in two different worlds now.
Fallen Crest and its millionaires for me. Roussou and their criminals for him. I was thriving in mine and he was running his.

But…

But there were nights I felt we couldn’t be further apart than we were, and there were nights I felt we shared the same heartbeat.

When was it time?
When was it time to either sacrifice, make a change, or walk away from the boy I grew up with?

“Everyone had a team in Roussou. If you didn’t, you got swallowed up. You get tough, or you get the f*ck out.”

OH MY SWEET JESUS!!! I have been waiting for Heather and Channing’s story from the very beginning, all the way back to my first binge session with the Fallen Crest series. Something about this back and forth couple intrigued me and I wanted more! It’s been a long wait and way overdue. Finally, Heather and Channing’s story is here, and let me tell you what. It’s even more emotional and gutsy than what I expected it would be!

Hello book hangover, so we meet again…

The Boy I Grew Up With takes us on a journey from the very beginning of their relationship, stemming all the way back to the second grade where Heather smacked Channing with a Trapper Keeper, to the present of their relationship, where heavy obstacles are thrown at the ride or die couple. These two have been through everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING.

Every damn time I read a book written by TIJAN, I always fall into the dark abyss that is the horrible book hangover stage. That is why I waited until the last possible moment to read The Boy I Grew Up With. Having anticipated Heather and Channing’s book from the start I knew, I would fall into that abyss. This novel is simply captivating. My only suggestion is to start this book in the morning, and precisely on a day where you have nothing planned. I was swept away from start to finish.

I laughed, I cried, and there were even times I wanted to throw my kindle across the room. It was pretty much a war of emotions, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Have you read The Boy I Grew Up With yet?
