Blurb:

Rhys Rivera is the star short-stop for the Longview Lumberjacks. Many know him, even more love him. He has a pretty face, a quick smile, and an air of danger about him that everyone seems to adore.

He’s not known as the bad boy of baseball for nothing.

It all started with his father, who decided to be a criminal mob boss, then die.

Fortunately for his uncle, Rhys wants absolutely nothing to do with the family business and runs before anyone can figure out which way is up.

By the time his uncle, the successor to his father’s criminal empire, thinks to look for him, Rhys has made too big of a name for himself to be taken out quietly, and he wants to keep it that way.

Fast forward eight years, and Rhys is living life one breath at a time, just waiting for the other shoe to drop. That shoe coming in the form of a nosy neighbor who has no idea just how hot she is in her mail carrier uniform.

Her sweet little body and positive outlook on life make him want to laugh at how naïve she is when it comes to the way of the world.

The harder he tries to stay away, the weaker he seems to get, until one day he decides to put his morals on hold long enough to satisfy his cravings.

One time is all he needs—or so he tells himself.

But then two pink lines change everything, and all of a sudden, he doesn’t have just himself to worry about anymore.

Before I start this review, I need to address one thing. I freaking love the titles in the There’s No Crying In Baseball Series! I cannot get over how cute and witty these titles are!

About Listen, Pitch:

Rhys Rivera is known as the sexy as sin playboy in the baseball world. But what the world doesn’t know is Rhys Rivera is in hiding from an Uncle who is out to destroy him and everyone he loves. His one greatest mission in life is to be the best he can at his career that way he’ll become untouchable, and so far he’s done just that.

Henley Cree Is on a mission to live her best life, Given he struggles she has to face on a day-to-day basis, she doesn’t let the fact that she’s deaf define who she is. But sometimes its hard to be the woman she wants to be when the only thing she can think about is how defective she thinks she is.

When a chance, match made in literal heaven, encounter between Henley and Rhys occur they have no choice but to team up and fight the wickedness that comes in the form of Rhys’s Uncle. The stakes are high and the tension is strong….in all forms. Will Henley and Rhys’s relationship withstand every obstacle the world has to throw at them, or will they crumble? You’ll have to read to find out!

My Thoughts:

I was introduced to Lani Lynn Vale’s work last year and I’ve come to enjoy and look forward to her books in this series. I love witty characters and characters that are completely opposite coming together during the weirdest circumstances. I love how every novel has a hot-shot baseball player drawn in and obsessing over the typical every day girl!

Listen, Pitch is such a dynamic story. There are so many elements to this novel that I loved and others I could have done without. First off I loved the fact that this novel touches on a disability that isn’t much talked about in the romance world. Or at least the romances that I’ve read. I loved how Henley didn’t let her hearing impairment get her down. I get the fact that at times she found herself defective, but  we all have our weak moments and this woman’s spirit shined bright.

One thing I have to mention, again, is the fact that this whole series deals with superstar baseball pro’s falling for regular everyday women. I freaking love that premise. I love that there is nothing exuberant about these women, it clearly shows the heart wants what the heart wants. The perfect fairytale.

I rated this book with a 3 star rating because even though I loved Listen, Pitch, I felt towards the end, the story line jumped around too much. The ultimate connection I initially felt in the beginning started to fizzle out towards the end. I loved the fact that Rhys was this super badass but there was way to much going on, causing the true moral of the story to lose its fire. It kind of gave me whiplash.

Overall, I did like Listen, Pitch by Lani Lynn Vale, it was a great read with loads of sexual tension and witty humor, but there were a few flaws I couldn’t overlook…no matter how much I wanted too.

Peace Love and Happy Reading,
