WWW Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words. Every week we answer three questions or as we call them the three Wโ€™s:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?

What do you plan to read next?

Funky Beats (8)

(Paperback) The Sexy One by Lauren Blakely. I’m loving this book. Over the week I realized I needed to read a few ARCs for review. But this week, I’m diving back into this novel! I’m excited to continue on. I’m currently on Chapter seven.

The Sexy One

From NYT Bestselling author Lauren Blakely comes a sexy new standalone romanceโ€ฆ

Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move…
1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she’s gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?
2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means…
3. She’s the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits… But it doesnโ€™t stop me from wanting her. All of her.

The other nannies in this city don’t call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.

I can’t risk my job for a chance at something more… can I? But I donโ€™t know how to resist him much longer either..

(ARC) Only With Me by Kelly Elliott. I’m just starting this novel so I can’t tell you much about it or whether I’m liking it or not. However, the blurb is intriguing and I’m excited to jump into this novel!

Only With Me

Life was great.

I loved my bachelor life and working my dream job with the Colorado Springs SWAT team.

That all changed the day I stepped into her bakery. Her smile swept me off my feet, and her panna cotta was heaven.

Cue my very traditional Greek family.

Then all hell broke loose.

The woman I was falling in love with was Italian, and my mother was hell-bent on proving to the world she was the better cook.

If my meddling family wasnโ€™t bad enough, for the last six years Gabi had been on the run from a past she tried desperately to escape from.

Between a beautiful woman on the run, and a crazy family constantly in my business, would I be able to show her Iโ€™m the only one who can keep her safe โ€ฆ or will her past steal her away from me?

Funky Beats (9)

I finished four books this week.

TYSON (The Saints series) by Kathy Coopmans. I really enjoyed this novel. Tyson is the typical badass. Lynne however, stole the show. How much can one person go through before they crack…..seriously this girl has been through hell and back and continues taking the journey through this novel. 4/5 stars.

Tyson (The Saints #3)

I know what itโ€™s like to have your heart split down the middle.
One-half chases her. The other half chases after the lies, deceit, and betrayal.
Itโ€™s a burning ball of hell.
Seconds, minutes, hours, and years all spent endured the depth of my own burning inferno.
All of it runs together while life passes me by.
Thirteen years ago, the woman I was in love with left me standing at the altar.
Hurt.
Broken.
Humiliated.
Some say thirteen is a lucky number.
Me? I curse the number.
Now sheโ€™s back.
Reminding me.
Torturing me.
She says things are not what they seem.
That they weren’t then either.
Do I believe her?
Do I forgive?
Forget?
Time and truth will tell.

Cheater (Curious Liaisons #1) by Rachel Van Dyken. I finished a kindle copy of Cheater this week. I loved this novel. I found it hilarious with just the right touch of angst. 5/5 stars

Cheater (Curious Liaisons, #1)

Lucas Thorn wasnโ€™t born a cheater. All it took was a single momentโ€”say, a certain disastrous incident on the night before his weddingโ€”and boom. Reputation destroyed forever and always. So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundaysโ€”Godโ€™s day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions.

But a certain smart-mouthed, strawberry blonde vixen is about to blow that all to hell.

Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister. And suddenly being forced to work with him is pretty much a nightmare on steroids. Of course, it does afford her the opportunity to make his life as difficult as possible. But no good revenge scheme comes without payback. Because he didnโ€™t become the Lucas Thorn without learning a few things about women.

Now Averyโ€™s lust for vengeance has turned into, well, lust. And if Lucas stops cheating, itโ€™s definitely not because heโ€™s falling in loveโ€ฆ

Cheater’s Regret (Curious Liaisons series) by Rachel Van Dyken. I absolutely loved everything about Cheater’s Regret. I love novels that incorporate revenge plotting and payback!!! My favorite novel in this series 5/5 stars.

Cheater's Regret (Curious Liaisons, #2)

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken returns with a smoking-hot story about the satisfaction of plotting revenge on your exโ€”until he turns your world upside down again.

Austin Rogersโ€™s dreams of domestic bliss involved watching Netflix and eating hot dogs with the love of her life. But then he cheated on her. And dumped herโ€”as if the whole thing was her fault. To maintain her pride and restore her sanity, she decides to get revenge. It feels immensely satisfying to plot her exโ€™s downfallโ€”but so does kissing him.

Thatch Holloway, a plastic surgeon straight out of residency, knows he ruined the best thing that ever happened to him. But not all cheaters are created equal. He got himself into this messed-up situationโ€”trueโ€”but he has his reasons for what happened, and heโ€™d do it all again to protect Austin.

Heโ€™s not over her. And sheโ€™s not over him.

Austin wants closure, but since Thatch refuses to give it to her, she takes matters into her own hands. She needs to write a human-interest piece for her MBA, so she demands the full plastic-surgery experience. Sparks fly as theyโ€™re forced to work together. But Thatch isnโ€™t afraid to play dirty in return. And heโ€™s still hiding somethingโ€”something that has the power to destroy not only Austin but their second chance at finding foreverโ€ฆ

(ARC) Somebody Else’s Sky (Something in the Way #2) by Jessica Hawkins. This novel is so angsty. I loved every bit of it. My heart broke and honestly it gave me emotional whiplash but that is to be expected when reading angst. 5/5 stars.

Somebody Else's Sky (Something in the Way, #2)

If I closed my eyes, I could still see themโ€”all blonde sunshine, ocean-blue eyes, and long limbs. The glint of Lakeโ€™s gold bracelet. Pink cotton candy on Tiffanyโ€™s tongue. My scenery may have changed from heaven to hell, but some things never would: my struggle to do right by both sisters. To let Lake soar. To lift Tiffany up. The sacrifices I made for them, I made willingly.

A better man wouldโ€™ve walked away by now, but I never claimed to be any good. I only promised myself Iโ€™d keep enough distance. If Iโ€™d learned one thing from my past, it was that love came in different forms. You could love passionately, hurt deep, die young. Or you could provide the kind of firm, steady support someone else could lean on.

Lake was everything I wanted, and nothing I could ever have. I was nobody before I knew her and a criminal after. The way to love her was to let her shineโ€”even if it would be for somebody else.

Book two in the Something in the Way series.

(ARC) Sexy Jerk by Kim Karr. I liked Sexy Jerk. I wanted to love this novel but there were a few minor issues I couldn’t see past while reading. 3.5/5 stars

Sexy Jerk

My best friend is married.
Everyone I know is married. It doesnโ€™t bother me. I like my life the way it is.

Since Iโ€™m single though, when my best friend and her husband finally decide to go on their dream honeymoon, she asks me to watch their three-year-old son.

Of course I say yes.

What my best friend neglects to tell me is that I wonโ€™t be babysitting alone.

Feeling Max might be too much for me to handle, her husband asks his only single friend to help.

Nick Carrington and I have met a couple of dozen times. Iโ€™ve never really given him a second thoughtโ€”other than to say heโ€™s kind of a jerk. Out loud. So he can hear. Sure, heโ€™s tall, dark, and handsome. And yes, he has the best ass Iโ€™ve ever seen, and I mean ever seen quite literally. You see he mooned me at last yearโ€™s Fourth of July barbecue because, like I said, heโ€™s a jerk.

He always has to be the life of the party.
Heโ€™s also arrogant.
Imposing.
Rich.
And a playboy.
Iโ€™d even go as far as to say heโ€™s a manwhore.

Yet somehow before I know it, this manwhore and I are co-parenting. Living under the same roof. Eating meals together and yes, talking.

Donโ€™t look at me like thatโ€”itโ€™s not like I had a choice. Even though I knew every minute would be hell, I had to say yes.

But after two weeks what I didnโ€™t expect to discover is that Iโ€™d been wrong about him.
That under his smart-ass exterior, heโ€™s quite charming.
That his arrogance is really confidence.
And that the sight of his naked body would do really bad things to me.

So yes, Iโ€™d misjudged him. And yes, I like him. Really like him. Although I might still think heโ€™s a jerkโ€ฆI now think heโ€™s a sexy jerk.
And I want more of him.

The question isโ€”does he want more of me?

(ARC) My Best Friend’s Ex by Meghan Quinn!!! If you can’t tell, I’m a little excited to read this novel!

My Best Friend's Ex

When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson.

Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn’t be that big of a deal Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he’s still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I’m trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.

Boy, was I wrong.

Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man.

Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs.

But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.

Tucker might be my friend and roommate but heโ€™s also my best friend’s ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that’s what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.

(Paperback) I’m horrible at TBR lists and I know I’m not going to achieve my goal this month, but I still plan on trucking through it and at least try to get through a few more. Next up on that list is Sweet Thing by Renee Carlino. I’m ashamed to admit this is my first novel by Renee Carlino. After hearing so many good things about this author I decided to pick one up and give it a try. I can’t wait to read this. I love the cover and the blurb. It sounds like my type of book!

Sweet Thing (Sweet Thing, #1)

“You have to teach your heart and mind how to sing together… then you’ll hear the sound of your soul.”

Mia Kelly thinks she has it all figured out. She’s an Ivy League graduate, a classically trained pianist, and the beloved daughter of a sensible mother and offbeat father. Yet Mia has been stalling since graduation, torn between putting her business degree to use and exploring music, her true love.

When her father unexpectedly dies, she decides to pick up the threads of his life while she figures out her own. Uprooting herself from Ann Arbor to New York City, Mia takes over her father’s cafe, a treasured neighborhood institution that plays host to undiscovered musicians and artists. She’s denied herself the thrilling and unpredictable life of a musician, but a chance encounter with Will, a sweet, gorgeous, and charming guitarist, offers her a glimpse of what could be. When Will becomes her friend and then her roommate, she does everything in her power to suppress her passionsโ€”for him, for musicโ€”but her father’s legacy slowly opens her heart to the possibility of something more.

A “heartbreaking and romantic” (Aestas Book Blog) debut, Sweet Thing explores the intensity and complexities of first love and self-discovery.
