Synopsis:
Parker Minelli, a fitness trainer and cover model, is every woman’s dream. His Boston accent, chiseled abs and easy-going nature have women flocking to him. But when he meets author Abby, whose brains are bigger than his biceps, he sets out to prove that he’s more than just a pretty face.
Abby is thrilledโand a little breathlessโwhen Parker agrees to work with her on her next book release. However, they soon discover that while opposites may attract, that doesn’t mean that they can overcome their differences. Especially when Parker’s supermodel ex-girlfriend reappears.
Will they be able to see the big picture and accept each other as they are, or will their differences close the book on their chance at love?
When i read the blurb for Boston by: Alexis Alvarez i was in book heaven. Bostonย is about a Cover Model and an Author coming together and collaborating on a novel together. The sexual tension is high and feelings are developing throughout the novel.
The problem was i couldn’t get into the novel until about 70% into it.
I try not to be to negative in my reviews because even though i didn’t really care for the book it doesn’t mean others will feel the same way or have the same opinions as i did. Everyone’s opinion is different.
Down below are the things that i didn’t really care for.
First of all i love sexual tension in novels. I think that’s what most of us look forward to when picking up an adult romance. I especially like when the novel is push and pull. This novel had a ton of push and pull between the couple (Parker aka Boston and Abby). but maybe it had to much push and pull and so much sexual tension it took away from the rest of the story line.
Abby’s insecurities with her body. Atย the beginning of the novel it was stated that Abby was very insecure about her body especially around Boston. Throughout the novel the insecurity was thrown in at random times. I found it to be annoying. Abby started to sound like a teenage girl that is so skinny but goes around complaining she is fat…I mean come on now.
I honestly had a hard time figuring Parker (Boston) out. He was all flirty with Abby when they were alone but then when people were around there was nothing. No wonder why the poor girl felt so insecure.
This is the biggest let down for me. The climatic fight scene as is in every romance novel. Not to give to much away but Abby and Boston have an argument after Abby hears him agreeing to something his friends say about her. Then to make matters worse…when he comes out to talk to Abby he turns the argument around so Abby looks like the bad person.
I could have done without the written Boston accent during the first half of the novel.
Okay now on to the positives.
At the 70% percent point i started to really get into the novel. The sexual tension was building even more. the flirting was there and then BAM the first sexy time scene and let me tell you it was a scorcher!
I loved the idea of Boston and was incredibly bummed that i couldn’t connect with the first half of the book. I wanted to love this novel but it fell short for me ๐
Thank you everyone for checking out my review.ย
