My heart rose higher in my throat with every pound on the wood. It was as if an accelerant had been poured directly into my blood.
It was close to two in the morning.
Someone showing up at this time of night—in the middle of a downpour, no less—should make me cautious.
If I searched myself, I guessed a little part of me was afraid, but only because I was sure of who was on the other side of the door.
He’d always been dangerous.
Dangerous to my sanity.
Dangerous to my heart.
Obviously, none of that mattered. I was drawn to him anyway.
Tied.
Nothing more than an offering.
I hoisted up on my tiptoes to peer through the peephole, and I sucked in a breath when I saw the tortured face pleading back.
So gorgeous in its hardened, chiseled way. Wind gusted through the longer pieces of his dark-blond hair, his shirt soaked and clinging to his massive body from having to make his way through the deluge that pummeled at the roof.
Quickly, I worked through the lock and yanked open the door.
Chills flashed.
A shockwave.
All brought on by the sight of him.
“Ollie,” I whispered, my spirit in an uproar.
He staggered in with a half-drained bottle of scotch clutched in his hand and kicked the door shut behind him.
He dropped the bottle to the carpeted floor, and there was no time to contemplate the thud before he was stalking my way.
Body massive.
A burly, beautiful, beast of a man.
I took a startled step back, sucking for the air his presence had stolen. Energy streaked through the room. Those big hands darted out and captured my face in the same second his mouth captured mine.
Lips and tongue and searing heat.
Liquor kisses.
My head spun and need blistered across my skin.
He groaned in misery and released the words between the manic scourge of his mouth. “I need you, Nikki. Need you in a way I haven’t needed anything in all my life. Take it away. Fuck . . . please take it away.”

Wow, where to start…
I just finished reading Lead Me Home by A.L. Jackson and I have to say, I’m completely speechless. A.L. Jackson has a way of twisting your heart until you feel everything her characters are feeling. I felt it first with Rex and Rynna (Show Me The Way), and that feeling further intensified with Kale and Hope (Follow Me Back). Honestly after Kale Hope and Evan, I thought my favorite book was on complete lockdown…
That’s until Ollie came into the picture.
Lead Me Home is Ollie and Nikki’s story. If you’ve read the previous books in the Fight For Me series, you may know Oliver (Ollie) to be the big brother and Nikki to be the best friend of Sydney (the girl who’s been missing for thirteen years.)
Ollie is hands down my favorite male lead in this series. His character is so freaking complex. It ate at my heart to see this man hurt so much, but to put on a persona so his friends wouldn’t feel that pain they all felt so many years ago with Sydney’s disappearance.
Nikki also has some complexity going on. She’s always loved Ollie and at one point in their lives Ollie loved her too. But through the many years of Ollie searching for his sister and coming up with dead-end after dead end, he has turned off any feeling that isn’t remorse and guilt. But somehow Nikki finds her way in through the tiny cracks of the foundation he’s built around his heart. Even the pain that lies between the two can’t stop this chemistry from sparking and igniting.
To say Lead Me Home is an emotional rollercoaster would be a complete understatement. This novel had my heart literally strung out.
I’m a sucker for a great suspense story. I love the adrenaline that comes with the not knowing who’s good and who’s evil. Lead Me Home is filled with so many twists and turns you won’t know which way is up.
Now for the reason why I dropped a star. This novel shocked the hell out of me, but in the back of my mind I always knew who the ‘evil character’ was. I’m not going into any more detail than that because everything I can say and have tried to say lead to spoilers.
Overall, Lead Me Home is another kick ass novel by A.L. Jackson. If you like suspense with your romances, definitely 1-click this novel today!
